The Junction of Unction and Function
Unction is that intangible yet indispensable
anointing of God in which the Holy Spirit is pleased to empower the preaching
of His servant and inhabit the praises of His people. Every pastor wants it.
So how do we get it?
- Enjoying the unction of the Spirit is not a formulaic endeavor - we can't just take three easy steps or make three easy payments. God will neither be mocked nor manipulated.
- As a result, we are left with only two viable options for seeking the empowering and inhabiting unction of the Holy Spirit. We do things God's way, and we pray. Neither is manipulative. Neither is a pretension to human merit, or an attempt to work God over.
