The Biblical Nature of Church Leadership
Servant Leadership
Elders should therefore be humble servant leaders.
- True Christ-likeness necessitates it. Every Christian is called
to Christ-likeness. How much more so, then, should elders exemplify and
embody humble servant-hood?
- Faithful eldership requires it. The work of an elder is hard,
humbling, self-denying service on behalf of other people. It is impossible
to do without a servant's humility.
- The church will be edified by it. Prideful leaders tear the church
down making a name for themselves. Humble servant leaders build it up making
a name for God.
